Maybe it’s not so simple as gender identity politics. I don’t believe treating it as such will really help.

It’s true, certainly, that women’s voices are sorely needed in these situations. But it’s not enough to say “if only women were listened to — if only people would look at the science.” It’s not that simple; some women have had traumatic abortions that leave them opposed to abortion, not in favor of it.
