Yes, absolutely.

I know what you're obliquely referring to here, and I feel your pain, of course. To respond more in the abstract for the purposes of this discussion, though:

The inherent difficulty with the word "diversity" is plain from some of the other replies on this post, but I really do mean "diversity" in all of its forms.

Another metaphor I flirted with, before letting it go in favor of simplicity, was one of biodiversity, which has many different facets just as social diversity does: genetic variation within species, diversity of species around the world, diversity of species within a region, and more.

Paucity of discourse, in my view, tracks back over and over to a failure of curiosity towards adjacencies. (This is where i am tempted to dive into my theories on how diversities of personality types influence how a thought community improves its though diversity -- some people are just more predisposed towards scouting, some more towards maintenance -- but perhaps I'll release that as its own article!
